A Taunton angler was fined £640 and slapped with a criminal record as part of an illegal fishing crackdown by the Environment Agency.
On March 23, Ryan Hughes, of Fallowfield Drive, Newport, was fined £440 for fishing without a licence and doing so with more than four rods.
Additional court costs of £170 and a victim surcharge of £30 were also handed out to Mr. Hughes, who did not attend the hearing at Yeovil Magistrates Court.
