North Somerset Council are cracking down on bad parking and have employed 11 civil parking enforcement officers.
In just four days, they have issues almost 400 motorists with a £70 penalty ticket.
The first area to be patrolled was the South Crescent near Weston College in Weston-super-Mare where vehicles were overstaying the one-hour parking limit.
The council applied to the Department of Transport to take over the job from police and community support officers.
