Residents are asked to be on the alert after a number of doorstep crime offences were reported across the Avon and Somerset policing area. In October the force had 14 reported incidents in which men have called on elderly and vulnerable people's homes and either tried to persuade them to have work done or claimed to be from the council or a utility company.
