A man accused of carrying out a vicious and sustained attack on another male in Yeovil town centre has elected to stand trial at Taunton Crown Court.
William John Cottrell allegedly threw the victim onto the ground and then punched and elbowed him to the head repeatedly.
When the victim tried to get up the defendant was then said to have kneed him to the head and then, after a brief remonstration, the victim fell to the ground, hit his head on the pavement and lost consciousness.
